Richard Powers is a MacArthur Foundation “genius award” recipient, professor of UIUC and a world-renowned author. He entrusted a team of designers, writers and filmmakers Spring of 2007 to visually interpret five passages from five of his books.
I worked with Assistant Professor Daniel Goscha (by and large an art director of the project) and fellow student Becky Nasadowski to create this three-minute passage. My specific responsibilities were typographic and informational animation, as well as all sound design. My role was to help capture the mood and feel of the novel in relation to the passage.
